Educational Objectives
Total: 8 Hours / 1 Day
First Aid – (4 hrs. theory/4 hrs. lab)
Designed to prepare the student for emergency treatment of injuries that can occur in a Maritime or Industrial environment. Graduates may receive credit for meeting the CPR and First Aid require-ment for U.S. Coast Guard Licensing.
Any applicant who successfully completes First Aid & CPR course (CHAPSS-197) course will satisfy:
• The First Aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1), provided that this training was completed within one year of the date of application; AND
• The Elementary First Aid stand-ards of competence required by STCW Code Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 08-14 Tasks 4.1.A – 4.9. A Inclusive: NVICSs 12-14(Ch-2) and 02-18 Task 19.3; and NVIC 13-14(Ch-1)Task 13.3.A.
• This course also satisfies the training, standards of competence, or practical assessment required for STCW certification.

This 4-hour course confers the authority to operate licensed radio stations in the aviation, marine, and international fixed Public Radio Services. The course also includes the 1 hour FCC exam and license application.

First Aid/CPR
(4 hrs. theory/4 hrs. lab) Designed to prepare the student for emergency treatment of injuries that can occur in a Maritime or Industrial environment.
This course is approved by the United States Coast Guard. Successful completion of this course satisfies: The First Aid and CPR Training requirements of 46 CFR11.201(i)(1)(ii) and 46 CFR 11.201(i)(2)(iii), PROVIDED that this training was completed within one year of the date of application; AND The Elementary First Aid standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 12.602(a)(3); STCW Code Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 08-14(Ch-1) Tasks 4.1.A, 4.1.B, 4.1.C, 4.1.D, 4.1.E, 4.2.A, 4.3.A, 4.3.B, 4.4.A, 4.4.B, 4.4.C, 4.4.D, 4.4.E, 4.4.F, 4.4.G, 4.4.H, 4.4.I, 4.5.A, 4.6.A, 4.6.B, 4.7.A, 4.7.B, 4.7.C, 4.8.A, 4.8.B, 4.8.C, 4.8.D, and 4.9.A.
