On a practical and procedural basis, the class provides the Marine Surveyor with numerous case studies that enhance the in-depth focus on key subject areas in the specialty field of damage and claims.
The course is designed for the Marine Surveyor who is presently engaged in, or has experience in the damage and claims segment of the profession. This program supplements and advances the knowledge and skills gained in the Damage and Claims Basic Survey program which is a prerequisite for this program. The course goal is to provide the surveyor with an in-depth focus in particular areas of concern that are critical to overall professional success in this specialty area.

Chapman School Damage & Claims Basic Survey program is a prerequisite for this week-long program. Enrollment is limited to 16 students.
In order to encourage a balance of student input and interaction three instructors usually attend each class. Reading and preparation outside of class time is expected. In order to receive a certificate of completion, a score of 80% on a twenty-question exam and submission of various written assignments including damage survey reports, is required.

Description
Campus housing consists of dormitory apartments. Each unit contains a bedroom, convertible living room/bedroom, bath, kitchenette, and a covered porch. The number of students per unit during this program is a maximum of three. All units are air-conditioned, fully furnished, and equipped with a refrigerator, countertop range, and cooking utensils. Housing is offered on a space-available basis. The School is not responsible for the loss of any personal property. Sorry, no pets.

Housing Refunds
All students who successfully complete the program are issued with a “Certificate of Completion” from the Chapman School of Seamanship. This certificate may be useful to show continuing education credits with organizations within the Surveying Industry such as SAMS® or NAMS®.
Damage and Claims Survey – Advanced is a continuing education program designed for practicing surveyors wishing to expand their knowledge and expertise in the Surveying field. It is not Licensed by the Florida Department of Education Commission for Independent Education.
